RESEARCH SERVICES

After speaking with your relatives and compiling birth, marriage, and death certificates, and likely performing your own internet search, you may feel the need to explore the services of a professional to further your research goals.

Brophy Professional Genealogy & Heir Searching offers research services for specific “brick wall” problems and compiled genealogies. Specialties include Irish-American, Irish, Massachusetts and Heir Search.
Any researcher you hire should design a research plan targeted to your goals.  You should be prepared to provide copies of family group sheets, census records and other records you feel are important. Please provide a list of searches you have completed, both with positive and negative results, so that we do not duplicate your research.

Please be aware that historic records are often not complete and limitations exist. For example, Irish Civil registration for births, marriages and deaths did not start until 1864. The 1890 US census has been almost entirely lost to history except for a few thousand names.  

Research services content includes Problem Analysis and Planning, Research, Compilation and Reporting. You will receive a report detailing the research request, the records searched, the information contained, and a summary of the research. You will receive all documentation and cited sources covered in the report.
Fees are hourly and competitive for researchers with comparable experience and training. Necessary and actual expenses are in addition to this cost. A “good faith” deposit is required to start work on any project after the research goals and maximum number of hours contracted have been agreed upon.
